Job Summary
The Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting veterinarians in the treatment and management of poultry health. They help ensure that all birds are healthy, disease-free, and producing optimally. They also participate in disease prevention programs, disease surveillance, and biosecurity audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular health assessments on the poultry to identify early signs of illness or injury.
- Collect samples (e.g., blood) for laboratory testing to diagnose diseases.
- Collect samples (e.g., environmental swab, water) for microbiological testing.
- Conduct routine audit in production (e.g., farms, hatcheries, feed mills).
- Provide veterinary support in the absence of veterinarian.
- Assess whether the birds are condemnable.
