Technician/Programmer

Under the direction of the Chairperson of Mathematics and Computing Science and the supervision of the Computing Science Coordinator, the Technician/Programmer will support teaching and technical infrastructure for computer science courses and events.

Responsibilities

• Creates customized computing environments for the effective teaching of Computer Science courses in which students develop software and websites.
• Takes necessary steps to ensure departmental computer security is not compromised, and minimizes the chances that a student could upload a script that could compromise or damage existing data.
• Designs and maintains a directory structure and creates multiple submission directories that can be securely accessed, such that each student requires a password to view and edit their submitted work.
• Implements a password structure for students and markers.
