Job Description
The Switch Board Operator will provide professional service as part of the Trust's values and standards.
Main duties of the job
- Use IT equipment and Switchboard systems.
- Use the intranet to find information related to patient, staff, and visitor requests.
- Enter on‑call details and maintain contact lists using IT programmes.
- Answer all internal and external calls in a polite, calm, professional manner, addressing emotionally distressed callers sensitively and non‑confrontationally, and prioritising calls according to operating procedure.
- Respond to emergency calls calmly and professionally, following all procedures and training.
- Carry out the daily emergency call test, recording the procedure and training.
- Generate electronic emergency notifications (crash calls) accurately and confidently.
