Peter Lougheed Centre has an excellent opportunity for someone who wants a truly active job in a hospital setting. Portering is physically demanding - staff regularly walk 20–30,000+ steps per shift and maneuver equipment with patients weighing up to 400 lbs. This position requires mental focus, physical fitness, consistent energy, and endurance for the full shift. Porters are responsible for cleaning and disinfecting stretchers, wheelchairs, other equipment, and patient areas as assigned. Duties also include safe and timely transport of patient, equipment, morgue cases, blood product, and laboratory specimen transports. Porters must prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment and quickly learn to navigate the site layout to ensure timely service.Strong customer service and communication skills are essential as Porters interact daily with patients, families, and healthcare staff and must do so respectfully and professionally.
