Senior Phlebotomist

The Role

Responsible for the collection, handling and processing of blood specimens from adult, paediatric and/ or infant patients as ordered by the Clinicians. Supervise team of Phlebotomists to ensure smooth operations in Unit.

Key accountabilities

• Responsible for the skilful, timely and accurate collection of blood specimens from patients as requested by the clinician using any of the appropriate techniques listed below:
• Venipuncture
• Capillary collection - fingerstick or heelstick
• Blood culture specimen collection
• Ensure timely and accurate collection of breath sample for the Urea Breath Test.
• Acquire knowledge and skills on Laboratory Information System and required IT systems.
• Assist in managing and inventorize supplies in the laboratory.
• Rotate duties between Hospitals as determined by Manager.
