Rhodes African Studies Centre (RASC) invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team. RASC, established in 2019, is an inter‑faculty research Centre of Excellence located in the Faculty of Humanities at Rhodes University. It focuses on conceptual, methodological and empirical ways of reconfiguring African studies. The Centre is a key part of Africa Multiple, an initiative of the DFG’s Excellence strategy, which also includes the University of Bayreuth, Moi University, University of Lagos, University of Joseph Ki Zerbo and the University of Salvador de Bahia.

Main Objectives

Research is the main focus, and teaching is not a core function. Researchers on contract raise funds for their employment; contract research is regarded as equivalent to more traditional research forms.
