**_Security Specialist - Crisis Intervention Support .6 FTE Evenings (48 hours every two week pay period_**
Under the direction of the Security leadership team and guidance of PBMU nursing leadership, the Security Specialist is the primary responder for all safety concerns in the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (PBMU), both individually and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
This individual interacts with patients experiencing behavioral or mental health crisis to decrease the emotional, physical and mental stress levels of a situation using verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques and if necessary, utilizing Crisis Prevention Institute physical techniques to bring the patient exhibiting aggressive behavior under control for further therapeutic clinical intervention. They provide safety and security to patients, healthcare workers and the unit by responding to situations to de-escalate crisis situations.
