Research Technical Officer

About the role

This role provides specialised technical expertise and technical services to the Animal Genetics Research group to achieve project outcomes. This role requires the ability to provide planning and technical assistance for the coordination and implementation of research projects focused on developing a reference population for development of methane breeding values in cattle and sheep. This will involve hands-on set up of equipment and handling of sheep and cattle for methane recording and other sampling as required. It will also involve animal and data monitoring through various online platforms and upkeep of equipment including maintenance, trouble-shooting and repair as necessary.

Based in Armidale, Technical Officer will assist with management and measurement of sheep and cattle across a range of projects and sites and will involve travel to commercial sheep and cattle properties to undertake research activities.
