• Geometric designs of railway tracks.
• Calculation of the impacts of geometric design on the operating conditions of rolling stock, including gauge width, design speed, derailment speed, uncompensated acceleration, and other variables influencing passenger comfort or freight train safety.
• Design and selection of track equipment (buffers, vibration control, etc.), design of form layers, substructure layer thicknesses, superstructure components, and track topologies (slab, ballast).
