A part-time academic is needed to teach FREN 2020-01: Introduction to Linguistics, in the fall term of 2026-2027 academic year (September-December 2026). The course is scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 13:05-14:25.

Course Description:
Linguistics is the science of language. This course is designed to serve as an introduction to basic concepts in linguistics. The various subfields of linguistics will be introduced with a focus on the core areas of linguistics: phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Students will learn about the structure of language at different levels of organization: phonemes, syllables, words, phrases, and sentences.

The selected applicant will teach fundamental concepts regarding the nature of language and linguistic communication, and introduce students to phonetics and phonology, morphology and lexicology, syntax, semantics, and potentially sociolinguistics and pragmatics. The ...
