Key Responsibilities
Providing Physical Database Administration:
- Plan and install existing database management software.
- Upgrade allowable patches for existing database management software.
- Create physical database shell.
- Plan and allocate database file-level storage at the operating system level.
- Create physical database storage structures (e.g., table spaces for DB2, Oracle, MS SQL, and My SQL).
- Maintain database security roles/views.
- Manage application interface IDs within the database management system.
- Solely manage DBMS system admin IDs/roles/privileges.
- Provide maintenance scripts for physical database aspects.
- Monitor and optimize DBMS performance and capacity.
- Plan and implement performance and capacity improvements.
