Maintenance Worker

Summary About the Position: As a Maintenance Worker you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks incident to maintaining and operating the locks and dams and channel structures. Tasks include welding, deckhand duties, mechanical maintenance, masonry, carpentry, painting, and electrical work. The incumbent performs in a relatively independent manner either as part of a crew, or with assigned personnel who assist in completion of individual assigned projects or jobs. Responsibilities When necessary, operate chainsaws, winching equipment, etc; perform cleanup of recreation areas as required after replacing gravel, etc.; place riprap and replace boat ramps; drive dump, tool, and similar trucks as required for work support. Handle mooring lines and towing cables; assist towboat operator by giving hand signals; operate winch to raise and lower spuds; deck maintenance; keep engine space free of excess grease and oil; splicing of lines; greasing machinery.
