Overview of responsibilities: Materials After the first quote is approved, create & check specifications to main contract quote & contract. Analyse tender drawings and check for errors, then suggest to draughting department the appropriate changes. For example, details, materials, quantities, etc. Take off and measure buildings in great detail in order to get exact material requirements. This is done according to specific measuring spreadsheets. Compare costing to material measured in terms of quality vs quality vs cost. Compile a comprehensive Material / Loading Schedule of all materials Distribute material schedules to purchasing department, site managers & factory. Sub-Contractors Source quotes for sub-contracting items and negotiate on price where possible.
