3 Month Contract With A Local Authority Job Purpose The HGV Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, repairing and servicing the Council's fleet of heavy goods vehicles, light commercial vehicles and specialist plant to ensure they remain safe, compliant and operational. Working across the Council's depots, the postholder plays a vital role in supporting frontline services by ensuring vehicles meet DVSA, Operator Licence and MOT requirements while delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned maintenance, inspections, servicing and repairs on HGVs, light commercial vehicles, specialist vehicles and plant equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults efficiently and accurately. Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure all work complies with DVSA, Operator Licence and Council standards.
