About the role
To support the practice nursing team in delivering nursing services as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing care within the scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The healthcare assistant will assist clinical staff in providing treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.
Core Responsibilities
- Undertake new patient health checks, baseline observations (pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate), and BMI checks.
- Perform venepuncture and administer vaccinations (flu, COVID, shingles, pneumonia, B12).
- Carry out ECGs, wound care, dressings and minor procedures as required.
- Facilitate routine and 24‑hour blood pressure monitoring, advise patients.
- Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes and chronic disease clinic management.
- Ensure laboratory specimens are recorded and ready for onward transport.
