ELECTRONICS MECHANIC

Summary You will serve as an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC in the ELECTRICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will Install, modify, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic communication and control circuits integral to shipboard electronic systems. You will use a variety of electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, pulse and signal generators, distortion and waveform analyzers, digital data generators, digital voltmeters, frequency and pulse counters, and special test panels. You will frequently lift and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance from other workers or with weight handling equipment. You will independently determine the nature and extent of repairs required on equipment that is normally complicated by variable and intricate relationships.
