Doctoral Researcher in the Social Sciences

Position

The Swedish School of Social Sciences of the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of Doctoral Researcher in the Social Sciences for a fixed term of 3.5 years starting on 1 October 2026. The position is part of the MAPS project, which explores the impact of digital platforms on service labour from a migration perspective, focusing on ethnography among migrant workers and platform ecosystems in Finland.

Responsibilities

The researcher will conduct independent research at the intersection of migration studies, sociology of work, and platform labour, with opportunities to develop ethnographic methods and contribute to project dissemination. Responsibilities include research, project communication, organizing events, and teaching up to 5%.
