Doctoral Researcher in Mathematical Logic

The Helsinki Logic Group is recruiting a PhD student to participate in the research project “Logic and Computation over Semirings”. The position is a fixed‑term appointment from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2030, with flexibility regarding the starting date, and includes a six‑month trial period.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research on the interface between logic and computation in classical and algebraic frameworks.
• Write scientific manuscripts for publication in international peer‑reviewed conferences and journals.
• Attend conferences and organize research visits abroad, with funding provided.
• Carry out teaching and public engagement duties, comprising roughly 10 % of the annual working time.
