Job Description
Take part in vessel operations with BC Ferries as a Deckhand on Thetis Island. Responsible for vessel safety, passenger traffic management, and general maintenance duties.
This casual position requires a customer-minded individual to report to the Mate and ensure safe operations. Key tasks include directing foot and vehicle traffic, performing safety checks, and maintaining vessel cleanliness. Successful candidates will demonstrate seamanship skills and the ability to respond effectively during emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct vehicle and passenger traffic on and off the vessel
• Communicate with officers and ticket staff via radio
• Secure car decks and foot passenger gates
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of the vessel's interior
• Patrol for safety hazards and compliance with regulations
Requirements:
• Marine Emergency duties training – STCW Basic Safety
• Valid Seafarers’ Medical Certificate required
