Consultant Ophthalmologist – University Hospital Hairmyres

The opportunity has arisen to recruit two ophthalmology consultants to NHS Lanarkshire, one with a specialist interest in glaucoma and one with a subspecialty interest in oculoplastics. The successful candidate will be part of the consultant team based at University Hospital Hairmyres, providing ophthalmic care to the whole of NHS Lanarkshire.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive ophthalmic care to NHS Lanarkshire patients.
• Collaborate with the consultant team to redesign and develop the chosen subspecialty service (glaucoma or oculoplastics).
• Work closely with site management to develop sustainable service delivery models.
• Coordinate with the non‑medical workforce and community optometry to support the Community Glaucoma Service.
• Work alongside the existing oculoplastics consultant workforce, ANPs and resident doctors for oculoplastics services.
