What you’ll do

While the exact role varies by startup, typical responsibilities include:

  • Building the top of the sales funnel: prospecting, outreach, and qualifying leads.
  • Working closely with founders or early sales leaders to refine messaging and outreach.
  • Speaking directly with decision-makers at startups and scaleups.
  • Playing an integral role in a startup’s growth, where every new customer counts.

Progression is often fast, with many SDRs moving into Account Exec or Account Manager roles within 12–18 months. Some alumni have progressed to sales team lead and later return to hire for their teams via Jumpstart.
