Job Description
The Department of Religious Studies at Stanford University seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Islamic Studies. We seek candidates specializing in pre-modern Islam; regional focus and disciplinary approach are open. A PhD is required at the time of appointment. The successful candidate is encouraged to support and contribute to the department’s commitment to diversity, inclusive pedagogy, and equitable practice. They must demonstrate substantial evidence of creativity and excellence in research and scholarship, engagement with the broader concerns, theories, and methodologies of Religious Studies, and dedication to teaching and advising students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The term of the appointment is expected to begin September 1, 2027.
