Jimmy John’s history and franchise information go back to 1983 when Jimmy John’s dad gave him two options after high school graduation: join the service or start a business. As much as Jimmy appreciated the contributions made by our nation’s service members, he knew his skills would be better put to use running his own business. And so, with a $25,000 loan from his father (who would briefly be a business partner), Jimmy opened his first sandwich shop, serving only the freshest meats and baking the bread himself!
Fast forward two years later, and Jimmy bought his dad out. Ten years later, he was overseeing ten sandwich shop locations, and in 1994, starting franchising his delicious idea to other bold sandwich lovers.
Today, Jimmy John’s is one of the fastest-growing franchise concepts out there. Our growth is due in part to staying true to our roots — keeping things fast and fresh and maintaining a steadfast commitment to excellence.
